Izun Oral Care is proud to announce the results of an open-label study utilizing PerioPatch in the management of acute peri-implantitis. Peri-implantitis is an enormous and growing oral care problem that affects up to 36% of dental implants and can lead to significant pain, bleeding and swelling of peri-implant tissues (soft and hard), leading in many cases to the eventual loss of the implant.

A quote from John Comisi, DDS, from Ithaca, New York in the February 2017 Reader’s Digest magazine: ….Gourlay warns against mouthwashes that contains alcohol because it dries gums and also increases the chances of infection…….Dr. Comisi recommends PeriActive, an alcohol-free oral rinse that works together with a combination of three botanical ingredients (Sambucus, Echinacea purpurea, and Centella asiatica) to calm any inflammation and enhance natural oral healing. He believes the rinse has been beneficial for his patients, noting that it's helped freshen their breath while simultaneously giving their overall oral health a significant boost.

In the medical news, there has been significant coverage in recent years about two distinct but related medical issues: the role of inflammation in a wide range of chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, cardiovascular disease, arthritis) and the growing recognition of the perio-systemic link (i.e., that treating oral infection and inflammation leads to improvements in overall health) (1, 2).
